Day 4 of BKK trip
Probably the most tiring day of this entire trip
Woke up slightly blur
Slept for like 4-5 hours?!
Need to be up by 7am to go to Kanchanaburi
(Yeah we are different, we dont shop whole day ok?)
Elephants!
I think its totally not Asian-like to go visit this kind of places
You will be surprised to see most of the tourists are Caucasians
They are more interested in our culture, our beginnings and all the suffering
While we Asian ourselves probably have too much of this in History class
I'm that kinda person who is interested in this
But not in the info
As yes, I am quite sure I have read about all these in school
I'm just into how these places look like
Our guide for the day was called "Nut"
Hahahaha!
Nearly forgot to intro him
Found his mother on the Net and his mom sent him to us instead
It was all good too!
We took this awesome mini-van as his cab was being serviced
And he prepared chilled bottled water for us
Plus he was very informative
In addition to all the cheerfulness and whatnot
Best of all, he was not overbearing
And that is the most important thing to me
The grass in the war cemetery was really lush and comfy on the feet
The graves were well-maintained
And you just feel the sense of security
Knowing that these heroes died for a great cause
Keeping us safe
While giving up their life
And particularly after serving NS
It's a random but strong and warm feeling inside me
It's not really the same for all SG guys
I'm quite sure of that
But yeah, its this indescribable sub-conscious feeling within
Comfortable and yet, heart-tugging
Pop by the Death Railway Museum just beside the war cemetery
Nut was like going all-out in making sure I see this book
The title is totally WTF
"You'll Die in Singapore"
But yeah, both of us shared an awkward laugh
Hahahaha!
Its funny when I think back about this
Visited Sing City while waiting for our train ride
The usual Shivalingam again
After seeing so much of it in Cambodia
Nut was like caught off-guard when we told him what it was
Trademark poses!
Pretty!
Too bad the insect died inside
Depicting how the POWs during the WWII died while digging the railway
400km in 365 days?
More than 1km per day?
Bad conditions?
Mal-nutrition?
Leads to a lot of deaths
Sad
Nut passed by this random topless guy sitting by the dirt road
while we were driving towards the railway station to
hitch a ride on the Death Railway
We reversed and he bought us this bamboo rice
I can only say............street food is the bomb!
Or dirt road/forest food is the bomb
With black beans inside
Damn.........9 out of 10 marks for this food
If the entire thing was sweet till the very last grain of rice
It would be a perfect 10
But holy cow, the charred bamboo smell
And the slightly over-BBQ carbon kinda taste
This is good stuff!
Historical moment
Linking our past and present together
Honestly our group photos all have random poses
And all definitely not looking at the camera
And Nut, being a tour guide, definitely know where we should be positioned
The story behind this Death Railway is that every single plank of wood
signified a single human being's death
It's just horrifying
And the train ride got super delayed btw
So we were kinda rushing for time
Because we need to make it in time for Tiger Temple
(updates on another entry)
Choo choo~!
Waving to Nut as he drove towards the destination to meet us there
Advice from the pros
Never try to eat the food on the train
Because you will never know if your stomach can take it
Hahaha
Seems like lup sup!
No offense really
Emo boy
The clouds were turning dark!
(I'm quite sure I posed for one of those cameras
They will look back and see this dude in orange Oakleys beaming at them)
The hills
The trees
The rivers and lakes
The clouds and blue skies
Its very picturesque and makes for great photos
Hope after touching up the photos they justified what i saw
Quickly took a snapshot before the train rush off
Had a buffet lunch there
Just beside the lake
And it's really really really really good
The feeling
Of peace and serenity
You look out and see all the green and blue
You dont really feel it there
But you look back and it just rush back into you
All this pool of emotions
The rain started to pelt
And we were hit with an uncertainty of going to Tiger Temple
More emo-ness
The Bridge Over River Kwai
The Allies drop a huge ass bomb on the centre of the bridge
To stop all the supplies from coming through
And they rebuilt it with a new segment smack right in the centre
The gap between where passerby can stand and the train is.....
frighteningly close
Somebody bump you in the ass and you would face-palmed onto the train
True story
iPhone?
Probably not a good idea......
The crazily-awesome nice clouds at sunset golden hours
Guanyin!
The scene just gets better and better
A near insane incident when I got stuck on the platform with some ATs
The train came and I was like......"Oh noooo"
And I got stuck with them
And they decided to snap FB profile kinda photos
I was caught in between
Well, lets just say I tried to bend my spinal cord to suit them
And they were totally inconsiderate
Just snapping at will
And not even wanting to change places with me
Maybe could have just bump them off
Like literally
LOL!
JUST KIDDING!!!!
NOT!
Oh ya
We went back and collected our tailored shirts and pants for this trip
700 baht for a tailored shirt
Same pricing for a pair of pants too
Talk until no more saliva then get this kind of pricing
Seriously
The workmanship was fine
The service was excellent
He was not very pushy in the sales side
And most importantly the clothing were of good material and feel
Collected our items and went to Patpong
Where they say the "happenings" were
Tom yum goong
Spicy and sour
Kinda tasty though
Yeah
Looking at these
You should know what those "happenings" are
The "ladyboy" shows
The "ping-pong" shows
The bar top dancing
I took a sneak peek inside
Without being totally dragged inside
And it was all sleazy
Girls with guys faces
Wearing white bra and panties
Just wanna say
Totally scared the living hell out of me
Patpong was full of this
Glad to be back in the hotel after "opening our eyes"
Hahaha
:)
