First post of the new blog
Yeah
It would be Day 1 of this Cambodia trip
Which was supposed to be Japan
But oh well, some things are not meant to be
Lunch at staff canteen at Changi Airport Terminal 1 FTW!
Always a great reminder that you might not get to eat these food
when you are in a foreign country
Anyways
Travelling overseas with 2 of my best friends from NP
Adrian and Mun Kay
This is like our.....5th time overseas together?
From Taiwan, India, Australia and Cambodia
I think somewhere in between missing their Vietnam trip
And they missing out on my Hong Kong trip

Adrian browsing through our favourite airline magazine
First time I didnt book a check-in option
And did I mention
It was a 1-way ticket?
Totally adventurous!
I like this kind of thrilling stuff!
Hahahaha!

Doing my best impersonation of Joanne Peh
I think they should sponsor me to be their spokesmen too!
LOL!
We take Jetstar everywhere we go
Plus this photo, with the queue in front, and the full frame of the airplane
And definitely the jump-shot
(With a half-dead injured right leg which prevented me from tucking both legs in)

Picture-perfect!
:)
Siem Reap International Airport
I think it is damn chillax
With the wooden architecture and stuff
Zit air-con
Yet still windy and classy
Totally give tourists a damn chillax feel
*thumbs up*
Damn the tuk-tuk driver was epic
His name is "Lion"
Like a nice right?
We were thinking that the flight was only 1hr plus
But then actually Siem Reap was -1hr from Singapore timing
So the flight was like 2hr plus instead
And we thought the tuk-tuk driver might have pangseh us
Well
He surprised us by saying "Ahn-nyung-ha-se-yo"
We immediately burst out laughing because like seriously "WTH?!"
Then he told us that because my name resembled the all-mighty Bae Yong Joon
LOL!
That is my secret character btw!
Hahahahaha!
And yup
He wrote my Korean name too!
LOL!
Epic right?
Full 100% awesome service
In case I cant identify my English name
Now that is seriously "LOL" stuff
=D
As soon as we go on the road
I immediately have this flashback of going to India
Seeing the cows and stuff
Thats like suddenly......OMFG!!!!
Why am I here instead of some city with huge-ass shopping centres?
Anyways we checked into Molly Malone after a 20 mins ride
And yes, its the 1st-ever tuk-tuk ride of my life!
Accomplishment yet again!
Quickly got settled with bus tickets to Phnom Penh on the 3rd day night
Yes the photo above is the ticketing shop
Just.......beside our guest house
(they dont call it hotel in Cambodia, the hotels are those with grand lobbies)
And then talked to our assigned driver
Codenamed "Buffalo"
Asked about all the itinerary, double checked on whether is it feasible
Chit-chat, and of course, bargained about the pricing of hiring his services
Anyways we managed to have his service for 2 full days
For the 2nd day, the Angkor Temples
And the 3rd day, the Tonle Sap river cruise plus sightseeing
At a grand cost of USD$30
By this time it was already 6 like that Cambodia timing
So we just get about exploring the streets of where we are
Of course, not forgetting, being seasoned travellers
We decided to take a map and topo ourselves
Army-style
Always the first thing we do everytime we fly somewhere
Just get some pointers from the friendly staff at Molly Malone
And we were ready to roll
Pub street early before it gets real busy
Damn!
Scary!
Siem Reap Old Market
Tourist attraction
It was a combination of both a wet market
And a flea market sort of place
Whereby there were souvenirs and local products sold
It was very Bugis Street-style
Of course
As usual, we had to be on the lookout for tourist traps
So yup, strategic surveying on some common products prices
And then we proceed to go on exploring the rest of the place in Siem Reap
Just casual strolling
Doing it the local way
Check out their motorist
My idol!
They dont need motorbike box behind
Anyways
There are some interesting sights in the streets of Siem Reap

Anyways I quite like the 2 B&W pics
Especially the 2nd one
The auntie just gave me a smile as I thanked her with a wave
Friendly~!
:)
And...... what is this?!
I bet USD$1 that it is a dog
Judging from the tail
And the size of it
Mun Kay bet USD$1 that it is a pig
But pull out in the end
I still think it is a dog though
Zoom in to this picture
And you would know why I took it
USD$0.50 for 1x draft beer
Thirsty liao lo!
We carry on topo and navigating our way
And landed up at some shopping centre
Yes cool shit!
Its the only shopping centre there
And it plays Hokkien songs
In Cambodian language
And our all-time favourite "我问天" is being played
Makes me wanna call home to ask my Mom what "爱" is showing that day
Hahahaha!
Seriously.....
I have never seen the cannon form of Johnnie Walker
And its damn cheap!
Like you can open 4 bottles here?!
So after getting some essential items
(downside to no check-in luggage)
We proceed to scout for dinner

And then we decided on this Mexican tapas restaurant
I thought the interior design was great
The pyramid thingy in the centre of the place
Quite artsy

And before you can order something
All you can see on the menu is the......BEER!
Local Kingdom Beer is chillllllllling
:)

Their serving is very generous
The beef taco
I think taco 10%
The rest of the 90% is pure meat
And being a damn carnivore
Meat is heaven!
:)

The only downside
We waited quite a serious while
The beer becomes like a scam then
It makes you damn bloated
And you can just feel the beer stuck in your solar plexus area
But after flying without water and food
And walking around the streets
The wait.......can be tahan-ed
And like I said, the food is damn tasty!
After the dinner
Night market walk proper

Scary jellyfish
Or scary fish
Or scary octopus
Or just scary seafood
Just plain scary upclose
Scary Uncle selling scary chicken balls
LOL!
And seriously
Siem Reap is quite dark at night
But it being very touristy and all
There were those neon lights everywhere
But still, you can feel some unknown danger lurking or what
Just not 100% safe that kinda feeling
Oh well
We carried on our exploration
And stumbled past this art exhibition shop
Its a blessing in disguise
Because the next day was our temple tour
And yup
Looking at the photos I sorta have an idea on how the photos should be framed
Oh ya
The exhibition is in a 2-storeys shophouse
With damn chilling air-conditioning
So gotta chillax and rest our legs inside too
:)
And then we proceed to one of our favourite hangout in this Cambodia trip!
THE BLUE PUMPKIN!
Chill
Chill
Chill
Chill
Chill
Just damn chill
Looking at the photos also feel like chilling at home now
With our exhausted legs
Thirsty mouth
Shagged faces and all
The ice-cream there is to die for!
The photos dont do justice to them
Apple pie, lemon tart, macaron
All coming with shiok shiok ice-cream
Plus 50% offer off all the pastries on the 1st floor
(we were on the 2nd floor btw)

And free wifi access
Damn!
Totally off-the-charts!
Damn!
Totally off-the-charts!
After the ice-cream
Continued to explore the busy Pub Street
And it was like 2 streets away from our guest house
So might as well
Soak in the atmosphere
Take some night shots
Buy some drinks here and there
And yes
That's Adrian chilling in front of the TV
Because we cant find the remote
Thats why have to sit so close to the TV
To enable easy surfing of the channels
And I have to take the photo of the room
If not if would become like a hurricane has swept through it
LOL!
Sorry we are not messy guys
We are all very neat btw
We have all checked out each other rooms before
So thats a 100% confirmation
No worries potential suitors!
=D
And the Cambodia cable has a lot of channels
But waking up at 445am for Day 2 Angkor Temple tour
Yup, sleep is paramount
:)
