2011 in Review

On New Year Day today

I shall spend some quality time

Reflecting back on how my 2011 went

Overall before I break it down to the tiny bits and pieces

Honestly I thought 2011 was a very bad year

2011 was the year I fully turned from a boy to a man

I officially ORD in 2011

But yet there were still some unfinished business 

which I could never get it over my mind and heart

2011 was also the year I started going back to school after 2 years

It wasnt the way I imagined it to be while in Army

Pros and cons

But more pros than cons I would think

2011 was the year which family members (and myself included)

were either hospitalized and injured

Health issues many many

2011 was the year which friendships were tested

So many people left the country

So many people left behind struggled

Either with the new or the old

2011 was the year which I never ventured out of SEA (on my own)

It was a year in which natural disaster was at its hideous best

Yup basically that is how I sum up my 2011

Now to break it into tiny bits and pieces

To serve as a long-standing memory which I can tap on with

the power of the World Wide Web

Jan

Jan was basically the month I started preparing for civilian life after NS

And yes, this iPhone 4 will always be a damn good bargain buy

One of the proudest moment in my entire 22 years of life

The day I got my IPPT gold - 18th Jan, Tuesday

Something I might go tattoo on

Hahahaha!

It is something very dear to me

Because for some dude like me

Who never thought I could run under 9.45

Actually managed to do it with so much self-training

All discipline and commitment max

No command school training or what

Just sticking to a solid mindset to train every single day

Yes, the money is not important to me

The accomplishment was

I will forever look back and know that this was EPIC!

My 22nd bday was nothing grand or party-ish like my 21st

Thus no photos or what not

Feb

Feb was the first time I brought my mom to the cinemas in

dont know how many donkey years

She wanted to catch 《大世界》 and we did

It's.............just something nice to do

Gives the warm fuzzy feeling to me

The first time I ever been to a showroom

And holy shit it had to be Ducati

You know it's love at first sight

And something so silly as that does exist

Feb was also the month I confirm I had to go for an operation

to remove some weird growth on my arm

And it was also the month I prepared to leave Singapore

for my overseas exercise

Something which I had waited for 1 year

And yup, Feb was also the month we bought a 

$600 air tickets to Japan

(before disaster struck)

March

March gotta be one of the best time in my entire life

I went to India for the 2nd time in my life

And this time, I managed to catch 1 out of the 7 Wonders of The World

Yes, its epic!

You thought life was bad?

Try this

4am waiting to catch the first train

And it was freezing cold

No jacket, no hot drinks, no heater

Singapore dogs having tough life?

The photo tells the truth

Abused?

See the missing patches of fur on this poor dog

30 degrees is hot?

I wonder what happened to the poor cow

Public transport is bad?

Try walking from one point to another

From the morning when we started our exercise

Till sunset when exercise was ceased then they came back

With the sheep or goat or cattle

No drinks no nothing

Walking across the endless sand dunes or desert

That.........is pure crazy

Something so grand like this

With such an interesting story behind it

And hell yeah it was one of the least visited 7 Wonders

someone would really try and go see

Because it's so tough to get there and stuff

With all the crazy traffic, admin, accommodation and stuff

Damn it's still one of the most photographed places on Earth

Hot spot!

This is crazily good!

Hahahah!

India is one hell of my overseas trip!

Something so life-changing

You would never know till you get there

And I'm so thankful I got to go on this trip

Endless fun and eye-opening stuff that happened

Yup, basically March was India India India!

And of course the NSF who got caught with the maid

helping him carry the bag too!

April

This weird stuff that was on my arm

Got this throbbing feeling that it would burst

Thus got it removed at KTPH

Kinda scary going into the operation theater

And doing the operation while you were wide awake

April was also the month GE 2011 got heated up!

I signed up for martial art classes with Derek, Xavy and Ming Long at Impact

Got my air tickets refunded due to the nuclear disaster at Japan

Changed to Cambodia instead

Bought my laptop for university

Managed to snatch a scholarship too

April was of good news!

May

One of the happiest day in my life

Walked out of Sungei Gedong a free man

The guard asked for my camp pass and I showed him something pink

I thought we were so cocky that they might arrest us back in

Hahahahaha!

Talked to my guys before leaving

Gave them some self-written cards and some photos before leaving

It was kinda sad for me

Because I knew something bad was brewing and I didnt managed to solve it

Yup I got all the shit in Army

Got into lots of trouble

Got complained by some parent

Men need to have operation

Parents called up and asked for interview and stuff

But holy shit, I had lots of fun in Army

I learn a lot of important things too

And I never chao keng my way out

One of the biggest thing that happened in Singapore history

It was epic

And I attended my first ever rally

Voted for the very first time

And yes, it was something significant

Got lots of citizens talking and participating in discussions

Good conversation starter

Watched my 1st ever music concert at the Indoor Stadium

And yes, the princess of Mandopop Jolin Tsai was awesome!

My best marathon!

(yup I only did 2)

Oh well

This was one good race because I improved by 45mins

And hell was I on form or what?

Held Aik Nen's hand for like 20+km to get him through

And both of us finishing together was a feeling way better

than me coming in under 5hours

Coming in at 5h30mins was an improvement

But not letting your friend drop off and give up on himself was

something more significant to me

I could always run another marathon

No worries!

My dad bought this love for $900 bucks

After 4 years

It was a story that unfolded beautifully

According to what I have always imagined right from the start

All the waiting.....it was worth it!

June

Had my very first picnic with The Gang at ECP

There were many good food

And great company

Something so simple was actually something so fun

Got this from Bangkok!

And hey, what a great investment it has been!

Accumulated 10 times of blood donations over 3 years

I have been consistently donating blood over these times

And till today, everytime I donate blood, something good happens!

Talk about karma!

Went to Cambodia with Adrian and Mun Kay

And damn, going to 3rd World countries twice in a year

is very emotionally and physically draining

But yes, yet another awesome trip among us!

Adds to the list of Taiwan, Australia, India and many more to come

Oh ya, June was the time I failed my Class 4 TP too

July

Moved to this new blogspot

My bro finally graduated

And it's such a huge stone off my mom's heart

I can still feel her relief now

Got my very own punching bag in the house!

Something cool hur!

August

August was the month of orientation camps

Attending pageants and club events

Seriously

Too much of that in August

September

Attended the very first inaugural event that ONEFC held

The fights were good

The crowd was excited

And hell the money was worth it

:)

My old polarised Oakley lens gave away after these years

And getting the fire iridium ones from the US was......just right!

Damn, this kind of investment must make one!

Went for an overnight cycling event with Hall Prod

October

Injured my toe in BJJ

Quite serious

Couldnt really run well

My knee gave way during a basketball match

And hell it was serious

Something that is troubling me till now....

We had Hall Prod Round Island Supperhop

And honestly it was great!

First time doing some thing like that

Get to go so many supper places I have never been to in SIngapore

Hall Prod Masterchef too!

A lot of Hall Prod happenings in the month of October just before exams

November

November was dull

It was basically exam periods

So zero happenings at all

December

As the exam period spread out into the month of December

So did my Project Wolverine

Yup, it was the longest I never shaved my facial hair

For a whooping record 28 days

I looked like a barbarian after that

The Project shows that I cant become an ang moh as

some facial hair didnt grow after some time

Disappointing...........*sighs*

All the more disappointing was my results too

=(

Went KL and Genting and Malacca with the people

A good way to chill out

Yup, but Malaysia

No need to go so often

Hahaha!

Met up with my good friends of over so many years

Had one of the nicest dim sum meal over a long long period of time

Or should I just say after Hong Kong

Sounds logical right?

I realised our friendship have become better over these past few years

And there is something nice that happened in 2011

Ended off 2011 with a Merry New Year party at Wei Lun's place

It was damn fun
Crazy and epic

And yes, we should do it again soon

If this year was the end of the world

I'm sure I will still be working as hard as I should

Better health

Nothing beats having a healthy body
